Betula pendula
Vision
In the Celtic tradition, birch is one of the seven sacred trees and one of the three pillars of wisdom, along with oak and yew. Birch’s wisdom teaches us to be openminded, thereby allowing our thoughts and ideas to flow more easily.
We perceive the world though our individual ‘lenses’, through thoughts, impressions, ideas, emotions and sensations. But an egocentric bias can occur when we think of the world from our own point of view too much, and assume it to be a definitive evidence of reality.
When fixed ideas are present, clear perception is limited. Birch flower essence allows us to look at events with fresh eyes and from different perspectives by helping us to open our minds and free our imagination. It also helps us to expand our capacity to visualise and find creative routes to desired goals by releasing our expectations of how we think things should be. Birch shows us that, while knowledge helps us to see and understand things as they are, it is the imagination that allows us to see things as they could be.
With birch, we learn to transcend mental limitations and continue to grow and learn. By expanding our perceptions, we garner positive aspirations that broaden our awareness and encourage novel, varied and exploratory thoughts and actions.
Open your mind and broaden your outlook. Banish uncertainty and worry that obscure your vision. Exercise your imagination to see ‘the bigger picture’.
