Breathwork takes us into an altered state of consciousness and our brainwaves go into theta. Guided journeying is an alternative method for accessing an altered state of consciousness.

Guided journeying is a very safe and effective way to enable going into a state of complete relaxation.

During a guided journey we are completely in control and are able to distinguish between dialogue we want to accept and suggestions that we do not agree with.

The subconscious mind controls our emotions, our self-esteem, our beliefs, our immune systems, and our bodies. Entering an altered state of consciousness (theta brainwave state) is the primary method used to contact the subconscious mind.

Your conscious mind is the part of you that analyses and discerns. Your subconscious mind is the part that holds all your experiences habits and feelings and is responsible for many of your automatic responses and reactions which are linked with challenging feelings.

This process allows us to uncover our true voice hidden beneath our constant mind chatter. Everyone experiences mind chatter and this process allows you to discern between unhelpful and negative talk from your true inner voice.

The majority of these responses and reactions are programmed when you are a child and continue to play in your subconscious mind.

Going into an altered state, allows us to revisit our past experiences in a safe setting, gain insight, release any unhelpful thoughts, challenging feelings and limiting beliefs and then replace them with positive thoughts, feelings and beliefs – Literally changing your reality.

Contacting the Inner Child

Oftentimes our problems stem from experiences in childhood. Those experiences are forgotten by our conscious minds but circumstances and events in our adult lives can trigger reactions within us.

When we were children if we had challenging experiences and we suppressed the natural emotional response (such as anger, shame or sadness). It is then trapped but can rear up in us as an adult. It is surprising that as an adult some incidents would consider as insignificant but they still affect the inner child.

For instance, perhaps when you were at primary school a teacher said “you’re tone deaf, you’ll never be able to sing,” and you believed them. Being told that you’ll never be able to sing is stored in your subconscious mind. Whenever you sing your voice gets wobbly and you feel like you’re just not good enough.

Inner child work is use is highly effective for many kinds of incidents and experiences, however trivial it may seem to us an adult. For instance, a person may not remember being told as a child “stop crying, don’t show emotion!” This creates an emotional blockage. The memory can be accessed through being in a trance state and then dealt with by releasing that blocked emotion.

If a child’s fundamental needs such as protection, love, affection, freedom, play, food, companionship are not met during childhood then their feelings are repressed, they can flare up and be exaggerated as an adult. For instance, when a current situation triggers a person and their reaction now is excessive, it’s their inner child. Have you ever lashed out at someone and afterwards thought, “wow where did that come from?”

When the inner child is made safe, secure and feels loved then the magical child emerges who is — playful, fun, spontaneous, full of enthusiasm and magic.
